Skiing and Snowboarding

Bansko is the top ski resort in Bulgaria providing skiing from mid December through until late April/early May. It has modern lift facilities and over 70km of piste. Piste Map

It is in the Pirin range of mountains and is dominated by Todorka mountain which has its peak at 2746m

There are plenty of places to rent skis, boards and boots and ski-school. Most people stick with Ulen who run the lifts. The convenience of renting from Ulen is that they are located at the gondola station and offer discounts when buying lift passes and a ski/board package. Further details on ski passes can be found here

Other places may be cheaper but do not do deals on lift passes. We use Pirin 2000 who offer a friendly and reasonably priced service.

Local Facilities

Sveti Stefan is located in the bottom part of the town near the Old Town. From here you have several restaurants within 5 minutes walk many more in the Old Town which is about 10 minutes away..

If you walkup the river towards the top of town make sure you look out for some of the interesting sites, such as the "washing machine".

The Old Town

The Old Town is a mere 10 minutes walk away and offers lots of restaurants and bars. It is more picturesque than the more modern top half of town near the gondola.

Other Activities

There are many other activities available depending on the season. Bansko has its own ice rink, hundreds of restuarants and bars, there is a nearby golf course and many places with spa facilities. During the non-skiing season hiking, mountain biking and other such activities are available.
